The challenge:

Seguros Mundial has multiple ecommerce and payment gateway platforms, which should grow automatically due to their demand in the insurance market. The organization had on-premise infrastructure that was very expensive and limited to manage.

In this sense, they were looking for a scalable, profitable and secure solution, capable of assuming their growth at peak times. At the same time, they needed to take care of their monthly budget, so they faced technical and knowledge challenges to be able to choose the most convenient AWS solutions based on their business objectives.

What did we do?:

To achieve their goals, our specialists designed and implemented a cloud infrastructure. They were tasked with creating an easy-to-access, end-to-end solution based on AWS best practices that provides them with security, scalability, and budget efficiency.

Through the detailed implementation of high availability services for the centralization of e-commerce payments, Seguros Mundial managed to achieve an architecture that allows autoscaling according to the levels of demand that guarantees the delivery of transactions.

The results:

  • 20% increase in transactionality in its ecommerce platform, thanks to the services, availability and flexibility of AWS functionalities.
  • They have automatic backup of the servers with daily incremental snapshots (or more in a row, if desired) to Seguros Mundial, which is designed for a durability of 99.9999999999%.
  • Redundant storage across different Availability Zones on AWS. If a server fails, a replacement can be quickly erected from the last backup.
  • The bandwidth of each instance on AWS to the internet is very high (~200Mb/s).
  • They use elastic virtual servers that can grow vertically (processor and memory) and horizontally (multiple servers at peak times).
  • Payment is only for what is used (server hours on and storage space).
  • By optimizing the elasticity of their infrastructure, they improved the performance and availability of services and applications, as well as consolidated the response of their Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP).
  • They increased the agility in the management of their applications, managing to reduce the times in the generation of digital certificates, going from the activation of a portal that took a week to only one day.
  • Infrastructure approval and/or procurement became a 15-day process instead of 7 months.
