Learn how we helped Grupo Auna modernize more than 500 servers, ensure high availability, and consolidate a unified operation across three countries with a modern, resilient, and efficient AWS infrastructure.
The organization was challenged to migrate and modernize more than 500 productive and non-productive servers—including critical applications such as SAP, Citrix, and specialized health systems—while ensuring high availability, business continuity, and regulatory compliance in a sensitive healthcare industry.
Added to this was the need to operate in a unified manner in three countries, with immediate and specialized support, and to implement a financial model that would guarantee efficiency and constant optimization in cloud consumption. In other words, Auna had to ensure that its technological operation was not only standardized and secure, but also prepared to scale and respond to the speed required by its international expansion plan.
We designed and implemented a comprehensive strategy that combined migration, technological modernization and a specialized managed service model in health. The migration to AWS was done non-invasively, moving more than 500 servers under a high availability and security approach. At the same time, the technological architecture was modernized towards x86 models, microservices, containers and completely serverless solutions, optimizing backup, recovery and infrastructure standardization processes.
Similarly, to ensure resilience, continuity plans were established with RTO and RPO differentiated according to criticality: up to 15 minutes for essential applications such as SAP and one hour for secondary ones. In addition, a dedicated Cloud Operations Center (CLOC) was launched, made up of analysts, architects, DBAs and experts at Basis specialized in the health sector, providing 24/7 support, proactive improvements and personalized attention.
The scope of the project also encompassed the continuous management of more than 800 servers on AWS, ensuring regional operation and allowing Grupo Auna to have a stable and scalable environment. In addition, we automated the operation through AWS CloudWatch, Systems Manager, Config, and GuardDuty, which reduced risk and improved response times.
Finally, advanced FinOps practices were integrated, aligning AWS usage and consumption to real business demand, optimizing instances, eliminating unnecessary resources, and generating tangible savings. This model was complemented by training and knowledge transfer to the internal operations team and architects, reducing the learning curve and ensuring that Auna could sustain innovation autonomously and efficiently.
Thanks to the joint work between Itera Process and AWS, Grupo Auna transformed its technological infrastructure into a solid foundation for innovation and regional expansion.
