The project
FITEC is a private education institution that offers technical programs through virtual classes to thousands of students throughout Colombia. After a long and painful implementation of Moodle with a local partner and using the on-premises infrastructure, they decided to give Itera and AWS Cloud a try to get help improving their infrastructure and LMS performance.

The Solution
Itera proposed a high availability 3-tier architecture as one of the main benefits following best practices (web / app and database). Taking advantage of services like ELB and a scalable network file system (Glusterfs) to support all your applications.
The Solution
After implementation, FITEC was able to improve the performance of its Moodle system and increase the availability of its infrastructure, reducing downtime by taking advantage of the benefits of a high availability scheme for cloud resources on AWS.
The use of database services managed through Amazon RDS allowed technology areas to reduce operating costs, increasing the time spent on innovation projects instead of spending time on server maintenance and systems operation.
Their LMS was carefully migrated to a new multilayer architecture on AWS using autoscaling pools to meet their demand cycles.
FITEC is able to meet the growing demand of students without having more problems with application availability and performance.
Itera also currently offers cloud infrastructure management services to the client.
