The project
CUAED is the online virtual education division of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, being the largest university in Mexico.
Challenges
They had run out of infrastructure to support academic requirements. They run implementations of Moodle for several of their university programs. At the same time, the IT budget was reduced .
The Solution
Itera proposed the use of separate accounts for different projects required in the institution. The first requirement was the use of mass storage for log backups using Amazon S3 as a way to have historical compliance. After that, the infrastructure moodle platforms were required as proof of concept, where a solid 2-tier architecture was proposed following the best Moodle architecture practices (web / application and database).
