The challenge:
The Institute needed the design and implementation of a cloud infrastructure to cover the needs of auditing and oversight of electoral processes. It required the hiring of a cloud hosting service for video multimedia files in mp4 format, as well as a management platform that allows various functionalities.
These include uploading, cataloguing, publishing, and consulting media files. As well as an integrated interface to the News Monitoring System for the playback of audiovisual materials on demand. In that sense, they required a cloud hosting service robust enough to facilitate the viewing of multimedia files on a recurring basis by users.
What did we do?:
Based on AWS best practices, our specialists designed and implemented a cloud storage system. Through the use of serverless services, ingest, consultation and elimination activities were carried out on the multimedia files generated by the users of the Institute during the pre-campaign, campaign and post-political campaign periods of the 2020-2021 Electoral Process.
Its new infrastructure on AWS On-Demand is designed with the highest requirements for security and high availability. In this way, the infrastructure complies with regulatory frameworks such as ISO27001 and SOC 2, capable of supporting peaks in demand that allowed the Institute to attend the largest electoral process recorded in the country.
The results:
More than 50 thousand devices connected at the same time to the INE network.
100% secure elections with integrity of ratified information.
Redundancy and availability greater than 99.95%
30% savings in data processing and storage.
More than 80 thousand internal user connections per minute.
More than 100 thousand visits per second to the Institute’s page at “rush hour” on the day of the Federal Elections in Mexico held in 2021.
Data transmission for more than 200 TB during the weekend in which the electoral process took place.
Their infrastructure on AWS allows them to use the security, processing, and storage services necessary to achieve the Institute’s goals in a stable manner within the given deadlines.
